What the hell is this?

This is Anti-Hype Hardware, buckaroo. Around these parts we prize lean hardware development done at a reasonable pace. We value humility, questioning, and being tough on problems while going easy on one another. We believe in actually building for humanity, instead of using that line as a cynical motto to throw the humans that work with us into a woodchipper. We know from painful experience that process matters and real Pad Rats have to make a choice between being ‘old’ or ‘bold.’

Which is to say, that we won’t ever be caught sharing AI-generated mockups on LinkedIn to announce that our revolutionary Torment Nexus just raised its first $10,000 from Chud Capital.

The world needs hardware companies to succeed more than ever if we’re going to survive — let alone thrive — deep into the 21st century, and to do so we need to forge new paths.

If that sounds like a breath of fresh air in a world of vaporware and Gundo Boys, then won’t you join us? There will be free posts galore, but some juicy ones might occasionally get locked up behind the paywall. Gotta pay for CNC time somehow!

I’ll also be deploying my step-by-step guide to bootstrapping a hardware company as a paid series complete with tools, resources, templates, and more, so please consider becoming a paying member if you’re able!

Either way, all posts will come right to your inbox so you can enjoy them whether you’re browsing McMaster-Carr for the millionth time, or taking a break from wondering if that fitting should be AN or KC (it should be KC, just bite the bullet). Look at that! You’re already getting value for free! Maybe consider sharing with a friend?

I am an exited bootstrap entrepreneur & early SpaceX alum. I love exploring how we build things with true value that care for our families, our communities, and ourselves. Put another way: I've seen enough of hustle culture - another way is possible.
